Te Tira Whakaari is a charitable trust set up in 2012 by Ngā Uri o Te Kooti Rikirangi, Rongowhakaata and Te Aitanga a Mahaki and Affiliates to tell the story of Te Kooti Rikirangi.
Te Tira Whakaari acknowledges there is a lack of education available to the general public about the history of Te Kooti Rikirangi which has left a serious gap in public knowledge about the history of Māori and the interaction between Māori and the Crown in New Zealand.
